Edge Area Rug: Redefining Geometry in Design

Ingrid Kulper's Award-Winning Design Combines Form and Function

Ingrid Kulper's Edge Area Rug, an innovative design that redefines the use of geometry in interior decor, has been recognized with a prestigious Silver A' Design Award. The rug, which combines the square and triangle to represent the union of body and soul, offers a unique visual contrast and balance to any space.

The Edge Area Rug is not just a rug. It is a statement piece that can define the personality of a room. Its design is a result of Kulper's exploration of different formations and their influence on us, consciously or unconsciously. The rug's geometric pattern is meant to contribute to visual contrast and balance in any space it is placed in.

The rug is hand-tufted, using only natural materials like wool and bamboo fibers. The lines are stitched with a thread made of banana fiber, adding another dimension and depth to the design. The bamboo fiber adds shine and a soft feel to the rug. Depending on the choice of color and material, the rug can evoke feelings of lightness or a more grounded sensation.

The product dimensions are 2000mm x 2000mm x 10mm. The aqua-colored rug is made of 100% bamboo fiber, while the mustard-colored rug is tufted with New Zealand wool and some added bamboo fiber for extra shine and softness.

The Edge Area Rug was designed by Ingrid Kulper, who started working on the design in late 2016 and finished in 2017. The design has not yet been exhibited. Kulper's exploration of the square as a form led to the creation of this unique rug. She wanted to create an area rug that was square but offered more than that, without being too dominant in the room.

The Edge Area Rug was awarded Silver in the A' Furniture Design Award in 2018. The Silver A' Design Award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
